Verb deō (to bind, to tie) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

12: 29Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his property, without first tying (deō) up the strong man? Then indeed the house can be plundered.
13: 30Let both of them grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Collect the weeds first and bind (deō) them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
14: 3For Herod had arrested John, bound (deō) him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife,
16: 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind (deō) on earth will be bound (deō) in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
18: 18Truly I tell you, whatever you bind (deō) on earth will be bound (deō) in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
21: 2saying to them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied (deō), and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me.
22: 13Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind (deō) him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

Mark

Luke

13: 16And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound (deō) for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?"
19: 30saying, "Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it you will find tied (deō) there a colt that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

John

11: 44The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound (deō) with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
18: 12So the soldiers, their officer, and the Jewish police arrested Jesus and bound (deō) him.
18: 24Then Annas sent him bound (deō) to Caiaphas the high priest.

Acts
