Verb eklegomai (to chose) in the New Testament

Mark

13: 20And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose (eklegomai), he has cut short those days.

Luke

6: 13And when day came, he called his disciples and chose (eklegomai) twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:
9: 35Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my Son, my Chosen (eklegomai); listen to him!"
10: 42there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen (eklegomai) the better part, which will not be taken away from her."
