Verb eleeō (to have mercy on) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

5: 7"Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy (eleeō).
9: 27As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, "Have mercy (eleeō) on us, Son of David!"
15: 22Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy (eleeō) on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon."
17: 15and said, "Lord, have mercy (eleeō) on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
18: 33Should you not have had mercy (eleeō) on your fellow slave, as I had mercy (eleeō) on you?'
20: 30There were two blind men sitting by the roadside. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Lord, have mercy (eleeō) on us, Son of David!"
20: 31The crowd sternly ordered them to be quiet; but they shouted even more loudly, "Have mercy (eleeō) on us, Lord, Son of David!"

Mark

5: 19But Jesus refused, and said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and he had mercy (eleeō) on you."
10: 47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy (eleeō) on me!"
10: 48Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy (eleeō) on me!"

Luke

16: 24He called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy (eleeō) on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in these flames.'
17: 13they called out, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy (eleeō) on us!"
18: 38Then he shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy (eleeō) on me!"
