Adverb lian (very) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

2: 16When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, he was very (lian) infuriated, and he sent and killed all the children in and around Bethlehem who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had learned from the wise men.
4: 8Again, the devil took him to a very (lian) high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor;
8: 28When he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs coming out of the tombs met him. They were very (lian) fierce so that no one could pass that way.
27: 14But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was very (lian) amazed.

Mark

1: 35In the morning, while it was still very (lian) dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.
