Matthew

10: 17Beware of them, for they will hand you over to councils and flog (mastigoō) you in their synagogues;
20: 19then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged (mastigoō) and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised."
23: 34Therefore I send you prophets, sages, and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog (mastigoō) in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,
