Verb paragō (to pass by, to pass away) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

9: 9As Jesus was passing by (paragō), he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.
9: 27As Jesus passed by (paragō) from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
20: 30There were two blind men sitting by the roadside. When they heard that Jesus was passing by (paragō), they shouted, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

Mark

1: 16As Jesus passed by (paragō) the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea — for they were fishermen.
2: 14As he was passing by (paragō), he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.
15: 21They compelled someone passing by (paragō), who was coming in from the country, to carry his cross; it was Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus.

John

9: 1As he passing by (paragō), he saw a man blind from birth.
