Matthew

1: 18Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit (pneuma) .
1: 20But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit (pneuma) .
3: 11"I baptize you with water for repentance, but one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and fire.
3: 16And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit (pneuma) of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
4: 1Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit (pneuma) into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
5: 3"Blessed are the poor in spirit (pneuma) , for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
8: 16That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits (pneuma) with a word, and cured all who were sick.
10: 1Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits (pneuma) , to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness.
10: 20for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit (pneuma) of your Father speaking through you.
12: 18"Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit (pneuma) upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
12: 28But if it is by the Spirit (pneuma) of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

12: 43"When the unclean spirit (pneuma) has gone out of a person, it wanders through waterless regions looking for a resting place, but it finds none.
12: 45Then it goes and brings along seven other spirits (pneuma) more evil than itself, and they enter and live there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So will it be also with this evil generation."
22: 43He said to them, "How is it then that David by the Spirit (pneuma) calls him Lord, saying,
26: 41Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit (pneuma) indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Mark

1: 8I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) ."
1: 10And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit (pneuma) descending like a dove on him.
1: 12And the Spirit (pneuma) immediately drove him out into the wilderness.
1: 23Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit (pneuma) ,
1: 26And the unclean spirit (pneuma) , convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.
1: 27They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, "What is this? A new teaching - with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits (pneuma) , and they obey him."
2: 8At once Jesus perceived in his spirit (pneuma) that they were discussing these questions among themselves; and he said to them, "Why do you raise such questions in your hearts?
3: 11Whenever the unclean spirits (pneuma) saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, "You are the Son of God!"
3: 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit (pneuma) can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" -
3: 30for they had said, "He has an unclean spirit (pneuma) ."
5: 2And when he had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man out of the tombs with an unclean spirit (pneuma) met him.
5: 8For he had said to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit (pneuma) !"
5: 13So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits (pneuma) came out and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.
6: 7He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits (pneuma) .
7: 25but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit (pneuma) immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet.
8: 12And he sighed deeply in his spirit (pneuma) and said, "Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."
9: 17Someone from the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought you my son; he has a spirit (pneuma) that makes him unable to speak;
9: 20And they brought the boy to him. When the spirit (pneuma) saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.
9: 25When Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit (pneuma) , saying to it, "You spirit (pneuma) that keeps this boy from speaking and hearing, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!"
12: 36David himself, by the Holy Spirit (pneuma) , declared, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet."'
13: 11When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit (pneuma) .
14: 38Keep awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit (pneuma) indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Luke

1: 15for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He must never drink wine or strong drink; even before his birth he will be filled with the Holy Spirit (pneuma).
1: 17With the spirit (pneuma) and power of Elijah he will go before him, to turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
1: 35The angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit (pneuma) will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God.
1: 41When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (pneuma)

10: 20Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits (pneuma) submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
10: 21At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
11: 13If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit (pneuma) to those who ask him!"
11: 24"When the unclean spirit (pneuma) has gone out of a person, it wanders through waterless regions looking for a resting place, but not finding any, it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.'
11: 26Then it goes and brings seven other spirits (pneuma) more evil than itself, and they enter and live there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first."
12: 10And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit (pneuma) will not be forgiven.
12: 12for the Holy Spirit (pneuma) will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say."
13: 11And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit (pneuma) that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight.
23: 46Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit (pneuma)." Having said this, he breathed his last.
24: 37They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a spirit (pneuma).
24: 39Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a spirit (pneuma) does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."

John

1: 32And John testified, "I saw the Spirit (pneuma) descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him.
1: 33I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit (pneuma) descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) .'
3: 5Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit (pneuma) .
3: 6What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit (pneuma) is spirit (pneuma) .
3: 8The wind (pneuma) blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit (pneuma) ."
3: 34He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit (pneuma) without measure.
4: 23But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit (pneuma) and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.
4: 24God is spirit (pneuma) , and those who worship him must worship in spirit (pneuma) and truth."
6: 63It is the spirit (pneuma) that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit (pneuma) and life.
7: 39Now he said this about the Spirit (pneuma) , which believers in him were to receive; for as yet there was no Spirit (pneuma) , because Jesus was not yet glorified.
11: 33When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit (pneuma) and deeply moved.
13: 21After saying this Jesus was troubled in spirit (pneuma) , and declared, "Very truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me."
14: 17This is the Spirit (pneuma) of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.
14: 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit (pneuma) , whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.
15: 26"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit (pneuma) of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf.
16: 13When the Spirit (pneuma) of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
19: 30When Jesus had received the wine, he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit (pneuma) .

Acts

1: 2until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit (pneuma) to the apostles whom he had chosen.
1: 5for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) not many days from now."
1: 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit (pneuma) has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
1: 16"Friends, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit (pneuma) through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus -
2: 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit (pneuma) gave them ability.
2: 17'In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit (pneuma) upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
2: 18Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit (pneuma); and they shall prophesy.

13: 9But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit (pneuma), looked intently at him
13: 52And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit (pneuma).
15: 8And God, who knows the human heart, testified to them by giving them the Holy Spirit (pneuma), just as he did to us;
15: 28For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and to us to impose on you no further burden than these essentials:

17: 16While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, his spirit (pneuma) was provoked to see that the city was full of idols.
18: 25He had been instructed in the Way of the Lord; and boiling in spirit (pneuma) and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
19: 2He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit (pneuma) when you became believers?" They replied, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit (pneuma)."
19: 6When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit (pneuma) came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied -
19: 12so that when the handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, their diseases left them, and the evil spirits (pneuma) came out of them.
19: 13Then some itinerant Jewish exorcists tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits (pneuma), saying, "I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims."
19: 15But the evil spirit (pneuma) said to them in reply, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?"
19: 16Then the man with the evil spirit (pneuma) leaped on them, mastered them all, and so overpowered them that they fled out of the house naked and wounded.
19: 21Now after these things had been accomplished, Paul resolved in the Spirit (pneuma) to go through Macedonia and Achaia, and then to go on to Jerusalem. He said, "After I have gone there, I must also see Rome."
20: 22And now, as a captive to the Spirit (pneuma), I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
20: 23except that the Holy Spirit (pneuma) testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and persecutions are waiting for me.
20: 28Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit (pneuma) has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.
21: 4We looked up the disciples and stayed there for seven days. Through the Spirit (pneuma) they told Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.
21: 11He came to us and took Paul's belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit (pneuma), 'This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.'"
23: 8(The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit (pneuma); but the Pharisees acknowledge all three.)
23: 9Then a great clamor arose, and certain scribes of the Pharisees' group stood up and contended, "We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit (pneuma) or an angel has spoken to him?"
28: 25So they disagreed with each other; and as they were leaving, Paul made one further statement: "The Holy Spirit (pneuma) was right in saying to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah,

1 John

3: 24All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit (pneuma) that he has given us.
4: 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit (pneuma) , but test the spirits (pneuma) to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
4: 2By this you know the Spirit (pneuma) of God: every spirit (pneuma) that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
4: 3and every spirit (pneuma) that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this one is the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.
4: 6We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and whoever is not from God does not listen to us. From this we know the spirit (pneuma) of truth and the spirit (pneuma) of error.
4: 13By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit (pneuma) .
5: 6This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit (pneuma) is the one that testifies, for the Spirit (pneuma) is the truth.
5: 8the Spirit (pneuma) and the water and the blood, and these three agree.
