Matthew

12: 38Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign (sēmeion) from you."
12: 39But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign (sēmeion), but no sign (sēmeion) will be given to it except the sign (sēmeion) of the prophet Jonah.
16: 1The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test Jesus they asked him to show them a sign (sēmeion) from heaven.
16: 3And in the morning, 'It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs (sēmeion) of the times.
16: 4An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign (sēmeion), but no sign (sēmeion) will be given to it except the sign (sēmeion) of Jonah." Then he left them and went away.

Acts
