(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)
Matthew
| 13: 22 | As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke (sympnigō) the word, and it yields nothing. |
Mark
| 4: 7 | Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked (sympnigō) it, and it yielded no grain. |

Luke
