Verb syntribō (to break) in the Gospels-Acts
(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)
Matthew
| 12: 20 | He will not break (syntribō) a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick until he brings justice to victory. |
Mark
| 5: 4 | for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke (syntribō) in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him. |
| 14: 3 | While he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment of nard, and she broke (syntribō) open the jar and poured the ointment on his head. |
Luke
| 9: 39 | Suddenly a spirit seizes him, and all at once he shrieks. It convulses him until he foams at the mouth; it mauls him and leaves him breaking (syntribō) him. |
