Verb tēreō (to keep) in the Gospels-Acts

Matthew

19: 17And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep (tēreō) the commandments."
23: 3therefore, do whatever they teach you and keep (tēreō) it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach.
27: 36then they sat down there and kept (tēreō) watch over him.
27: 54Now when the centurion and those with him, who were keeping (tēreō) watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were terrified and said, "Truly this man was God's Son!"
28: 4From fear those keeping (tēreō) watch over him shook and became like dead men.
28: 20and teaching them to keep (tēreō) everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

John

2: 10and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept (tēreō) the good wine until now."

17: 15I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to keep (tēreō) them from the evil one.

Acts

12: 5While Peter was kept (tēreō) in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him.
12: 6The very night before Herod was going to bring him out, Peter, bound with two chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while guards in front of the door were keeping (tēreō) watch over the prison.
15: 5But some believers who belonged to the sect of the Pharisees stood up and said, "It is necessary for them to be circumcised and ordered to keep (tēreō) the law of Moses."
16: 23After they had given them a severe flogging, they threw them into prison and ordered the jailer to keep (tēreō) them securely.
24: 23Then he ordered the centurion to keep (tēreō) him in custody, but to let him have some liberty and not to prevent any of his friends from taking care of his needs.
25: 4Festus replied that Paul was being kept (tēreō) at Caesarea, and that he himself intended to go there shortly.
25: 21But when Paul had appealed to be kept (tēreō) in custody for the decision of his Imperial Majesty, I ordered him to be kept (tēreō) until I could send him to the emperor."

1 John

2: 3Now by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep (tēreō) his commandments.
2: 4Whoever says, "I have come to know him," but does not keep (tēreō) his commandments, is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist;
2: 5but whoever keeps (tēreō) his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we may be sure that we are in him:
3: 22and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep (tēreō) his commandments and do what pleases him.
3: 24All who keep (tēreō) his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.
5: 3For the love of God is this, that we keep (tēreō) his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,
5: 18We know that those who are born of God do not sin, but the one who was born of God keeps (tēreō) them, and the evil one does not touch them.
