Verb thelō (to want) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)

Matthieu

1: 19Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man, did not want (thelō) to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dismiss her quietly.
2: 18"A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she did not want (thelō) to be consoled, because they are no more."
5: 40and if anyone wants (thelō) to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well;
5: 42Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants (thelō) to borrow from you.
7: 12"In everything do to others as you want (thelō) them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
8: 2and there was a leper who came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you want (thelō), you can make me clean."
8: 3He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I do want (thelō). Be made clean!" Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
9: 13Go and learn what this means, 'I want (thelō) mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners."
11: 14and if you want (thelō) to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.
12: 7But if you had known what this means, 'I want (thelō) mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless.
12: 38Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we want (thelō) to see a sign from you."
13: 28He answered, 'An enemy has done this.' The slaves said to him, 'Then do you want (thelō) us to go and gather them?'

16: 25For those who want (thelō) to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.

18: 23"For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wanted (thelō) to settle accounts with his slaves.
18: 30But he did not want (thelō); then he went and threw him into prison until he would pay the debt.
19: 17And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you want (thelō) to enter into life, keep the commandments."
19: 21Jesus said to him, "If you want (thelō) to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
20: 14Take what belongs to you and go; I want (thelō) to give to this last the same as I give to you.
20: 15Am I not allowed to do what I want (thelō) with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
20: 21And he said to her, "What do you want (thelō)?" She said to him, "Declare that these two sons of mine will sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom."

23: 37"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I wanted (thelō) to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you did not want (thelō) to!
26: 15and said, "What do you want (thelō) give me if I betray him to you?" They paid him thirty pieces of silver.
26: 17On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want (thelō) us to make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
26: 39And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want (thelō) but what you."
27: 15Now at the festival the governor was accustomed to release a prisoner for the crowd, anyone whom they wanted (thelō).
27: 17So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want (thelō) me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?"
27: 21The governor again said to them, "Which of the two do you want (thelō) me to release for you?" And they said, "Barabbas."
27: 34they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but when he tasted it, he did not want (thelō) to drink it.

Mark

1: 40A leper came to him begging him, and kneeling he said to him, "If you want (thelō), you can make me clean."
1: 41Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, "I do want (thelō). Be made clean!"
3: 13He went up the mountain and called to him those whom he wanted (thelō), and they came to him.
6: 19And Herodias had a grudge against him, and wanted (thelō) to kill him. But she could not,
6: 22When his daughter Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests; and the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you want (thelō), and I will give it."
6: 25Immediately she rushed back to the king and requested, "I want (thelō) you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."
6: 26The king was deeply grieved; yet out of regard for his oaths and for the guests, he did not want (thelō) to refuse her.
6: 48When he saw that they were straining at the oars against an adverse wind, he came towards them early in the morning, walking on the sea. He wanted (thelō) to pass them by.
7: 24From there he set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want (thelō) anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice,

10: 36And he said to them, "What is it you want (thelō) me to do for you?"
10: 43But it is not so among you; but whoever wants (thelō) to become great among you must be your servant,
10: 44and whoever wants (thelō) to be first among you must be slave of all.
10: 51Then Jesus said to him, "What do you want (thelō) me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "My teacher, let me see again."

Luke

1: 62Then they began motioning to his father to find out what name he wanted (thelō) to give him.
4: 6And the devil said to him, "To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I want (thelō) to.
5: 12Once, when he was in one of the cities, there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you want (thelō), you can make me clean."

16: 26Besides all this, between you and us a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who might want (thelō) to pass from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.'
18: 4For a while he didn't want (thelō) to; but later he said to himself, 'Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone,
18: 13But the tax collector, standing far off, did not even want (thelō) to look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'
18: 41"What do you want (thelō) me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me see again."
19: 14But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want (thelō) this man to rule over us.'
19: 27But as for these enemies of mine who did not want (thelō) me to be king over them - bring them here and slaughter them in my presence.'"
20: 46"Beware of the scribes, who want (thelō) to walk around in long robes, and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets.
22: 9They asked him, "Where do you want (thelō) us to make preparations for it?"
23: 8When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had been wanting (thelō) to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform some sign.

John

1: 43The next day Jesus wanted (thelō) to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."
3: 8The wind blows where it wants (thelō), and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
5: 6When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want (thelō) to be made well?"
5: 21Indeed, just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wants (thelō).
5: 35He was a burning and shining lamp, and you wanted (thelō) to rejoice for a while in his light.
5: 40Yet you do not want (thelō) to come to me to have life.
6: 11Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted (thelō).
6: 21Then they wanted (thelō) to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the land toward which they were going.
6: 67So Jesus asked the twelve, "Do you also want (thelō) to go away?"
7: 1After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He did not want (thelō) to go about in Judea because the Jews were looking for an opportunity to kill him.
7: 17Anyone who wants (thelō) to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.
7: 44Some of them wanted (thelō) to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.
8: 44You are from your father the devil, and you want (thelō) to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
9: 27He answered them, "I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want (thelō) to hear it again? Do you also want (thelō) to become his disciples?"
12: 21They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, "Sir, we want (thelō) to see Jesus."
15: 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you want (thelō), and it will be done for you.
16: 19Jesus knew that they wanted (thelō) to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, 'A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'?
17: 24Father, I want (thelō) that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
21: 18Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wanted (thelō). But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not want (thelō) to go."
21: 22Jesus said to him, "If I want (thelō) that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!"
21: 23So the rumor spread in the community that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I want (thelō) that he remain until I come, what is that to you?"

Acts

2: 12All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What this wants (thelō) to be?"
7: 28Do you want (thelō) to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?'
7: 39Our ancestors did not want (thelō) to obey him; instead, they pushed him aside, and in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,
10: 10He became hungry and wanted (thelō) something to eat; and while it was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
14: 13The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates; he and the crowds wanted (thelō) to offer sacrifice.
16: 3Paul wanted (thelō) Timothy to accompany him; and he took him and had him circumcised because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
17: 18Also some Epicurean and Stoic philosophers debated with him. Some said, "What does this babbler want (thelō) to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign divinities." (This was because he was telling the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.)
17: 20It sounds rather strange to us, so we would like to know what this wants (thelō) to mean."
18: 21but on taking leave of them, he said, "I will return to you, if God wants (thelō)." Then he set sail from Ephesus.
19: 33Some of the crowd gave instructions to Alexander, whom the Jews had pushed forward. And Alexander having made a sign of the hand, he wanted (thelō) to make a defense before the people.
24: 27After two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and since he wanted (thelō) to grant the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.
25: 9But Festus, wanting (thelō) to do the Jews a favor, asked Paul, "Do you want (thelō) to go up to Jerusalem and be tried there before me on these charges?"
26: 5They have known for a long time, if they want (thelō) to testify, that I have belonged to the strictest sect of our religion and lived as a Pharisee.

3 John

1: 13I have much to write to you, but I do not want (thelō) to write with pen and ink;
