Verb thelō (to want) in the New Testament

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)

Matthieu

1: 19	Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man, did not want (thelō) to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dismiss her quietly.
2: 18	"A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she did not want (thelō) to be consoled, because they are no more."
5: 40	and if anyone wants (thelō) to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well;
5: 42	Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants (thelō) to borrow from you.
7: 12	"In everything do to others as you want (thelō) them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
8: 2	and there was a leper who came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you want (thelō), you can make me clean."

Mark

5: 6	When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want (thelō) to be made well?"
5: 21	Indeed, just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wants (thelō).
5: 35	He was a burning and shining lamp, and you wanted (thelō) to rejoice for a while in his light.

6: 11	Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted (thelō).

6: 67	So Jesus asked the twelve, "Do you also want (thelō) to go away?"

7: 17	Anyone who wants (thelō) to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.

8: 44	You are from your father the devil, and you want (thelō) to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
9: 27	He answered them, "I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want (thelō) to hear it again? Do you also want (thelō) to become his disciples?"
12: 21	They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, "Sir, we want (thelō) to see Jesus."
15: 7	If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you want (thelō), and it will be done for you.
16: 19	Jesus knew that they wanted (thelō) to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, 'A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'?
17: 24	Father, I want (thelō) that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
21: 18	Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wanted (thelō). But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not want (thelō) to go."
21: 22	Jesus said to him, "If I want (thelō) that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!"
21: 23	So the rumor spread in the community that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I want (thelō) that he remain until I come, what is that to you?"

Acts

2: 12	All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What this wants (thelō) to be?"
7: 28	Do you want (thelō) to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?'
7: 39	Our ancestors did not want (thelō) to obey him; instead, they pushed him aside, and in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,

19: 33	Some of the crowd gave instructions to Alexander, whom the Jews had pushed forward. And Alexander having made a sign of the hand, he wanted (thelō) to make a defense before the people.
24: 27	After two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and since he wanted (thelō) to grant the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.

1 Thessalonians

2: 18	For we wanted (thelō) to come to you - certainly I, Paul, - and once and twice but Satan blocked our way.

2 Thessalonians

Philippians

for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to want (thelō) and to work for his good pleasure.

1 Corinthians

4: 19	But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wants (thelō), and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power.
4: 21	What do you want (thelō)? Am I to come to you with a stick, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?

2 Corinthians

Galatians

1: 7	not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want (thelō) to pervert the gospel of Christ.
3: 2	The only thing I want (thelō) to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?
4: 9	Now, however, that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental spirits? How can you want (thelō) to be enslaved to them again?
4: 17	They make much of you, but for no good purpose; they want (thelō) to exclude you, so that you may make much of them.

Romans

1: 13	I want (thelō) you to know, brothers and sisters, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.
7: 15	I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want (thelō), but I do the very thing I hate.

Colossians

Hebrews

James

Revelation

22: 17	The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let everyone who hears say, "Come." And let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wants (thelō) take the water of life as a gift.
