Noun zōē (life) in the New Testament

Matthew

7: 14For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life (zōē), and there are few who find it.
18: 8"If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life (zōē) maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and to be thrown into the eternal fire.
18: 9And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life (zōē) with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into the hell of fire.
19: 16Then someone came to him and said, "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life (zōē)?"
19: 17And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you wish to enter into life (zōē), keep the commandments."
19: 29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold, and will inherit eternal life (zōē).
25: 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life (zōē)."

Mark

John

1: 4in him was life (zōē), and the life (zōē) was the light of all people.

Acts

John

1: 1We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life (zōē)
1: 2this life (zōē) was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life (zōē) that was with the Father and was revealed to us
2: 25And this is what he has promised us, eternal life (zōē).
3: 14We know that we have passed from death to life (zōē) because we love one another. Whoever does not love abides in death.
3: 15All who hate a brother or sister are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life (zōē) abiding in them.

5: 16If you see your brother or sister committing what is not a mortal sin, you will ask, and God will give life (zōē) to such a one - to those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin that is mortal; I do not say that you should pray about that.
5: 20And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life (zōē).

Philippians

1: 20It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now as always in my body, whether by life (zōē) or by death.
2: 16It is by your holding fast to the word of life (zōē) that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
4: 3Yes, and I ask you also, my loyal companion, help these women, for they have struggled beside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life (zōē).

1 Corinthians

3: 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life (zōē) or death or the present or the future - all belong to you,
15: 19If for this life (zōē) only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

2 Corinthians

2: 16to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life (zōē) to life (zōē). Who is sufficient for these things?
4: 10always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life (zōē) of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies.
4: 11For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life (zōē) of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh.

Galatians

6: 8If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life (zōē) from the Spirit.

Romans

2: 7to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life (zōē);
5: 10For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life (zōē).
5: 17If, because of the one man's trespass, death exercised dominion through that one, much more surely will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness exercise dominion in life (zōē) through the one man, Jesus Christ.

4: 18They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life (zōē) of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart.

1 Timothy

1: 16But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience, making me an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life (zōē).
4: 8for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life (zōē) and the one to come.
6: 12Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life (zōē), to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
6: 19thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of which is indeed life (zōē).

2 Timothy

1: 1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, for the sake of the promise of life (zōē) that is in Christ Jesus,

Titus

1: 2in the hope of eternal life (zōē) that God, who never lies, promised before the ages began -
3: 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life (zōē).

Hebrews

7: 3Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life (zōē), but resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.
7: 16one who has become a priest, not through a legal requirement concerning physical descent, but through the power of an indestructible life (zōē).

James

1: 12Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life (zōē) that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
4: 14Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life (zōē)? For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

1 Peter

3: 7Husbands, in the same way, show consideration for your wives in your living together, paying honor to the woman as the weaker sex, since they too are also heirs of the gracious gift of life (zōē) - so that nothing may hinder your prayers.
3: 10For "Those who desire life (zōē) and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit;

2 Peter

1: 3His divine power has given us everything needed for life (zōē) and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Jude

1: 21keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life (zōē).

Revelation

2: 7Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To everyone who conquers, I will give permission to eat from the tree of life (zōē) that is in the paradise of God.
2: 10Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Beware, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life (zōē).
3: 5If you conquer, you will be clothed like them in white robes, and I will not blot your name out of the book of life (zōē); I will confess your name before my Father and before his angels.
7: 17for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life (zōē), and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
11: 11But after the three and a half days, the breath of life (zōē) from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and those who saw them were terrified.

22: 14Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life (zōē) and may enter the city by the gates.
22: 17The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let everyone who hears say, "Come." And let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life (zōē) as a gift.
22: 19if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person's share in the tree of life (zōē) and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
