2 He said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.2 He said to them, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.2 And he said unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.2 He said to them, "The harvest is rich but the laborers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to his harvest.2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers [are] few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves.3 Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.3 Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.3 Start off now, but remember, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.3 Go! 4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road.4 Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.4 Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the way.4 Carry no purse, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road.4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5 Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house!'5 Into whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this household.'5 And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace be to this house.5 Whatever house you go into, let your first words be, 'Peace to this house!'5 "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.'5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house.
6 And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you.6 If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.6 And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him: if not, it will come back to you.6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the laborer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house.7 Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another.7 And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.7 Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not move from house to house.7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you;8 Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you,8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:8 Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is set before you.8 "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you.8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 cure the sick who are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'9 cure the sick in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God is at hand for you.'9 and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.9 Cure those in it who are sick, and say, 'The kingdom of God is very near to you.'9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say,10 Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say,10 But into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not make you welcome, go out into the streets and say,10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say,10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.'11 'The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.' Yet know this: the kingdom of God is at hand.11 Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to our feet, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.11'We wipe off the very dust of your town that clings to our feet, and leave it with you. Yet be sure of this: the kingdom of God is very near.'11 'Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.'11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
12 I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town. 12 I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town.12 I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.12 I tell you, on that day it will not go as hard with Sodom as with that town.12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the deeds of power done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13 l "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13 "Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But at the judgment it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon than for you.14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.14 And still, it will not go as hard with Tyre and Sidon at the Judgment as with you.14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades. 15 And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'15 And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades.15 And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be exalted high as heaven? You shall be thrown down to hell.15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 "Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me." 16 Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.16 "Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me, and those who reject me reject the one who sent me." True cause for the apostles to rejoice16 "Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me."16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!"17 The seventy[-two] returned rejoicing, and said, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name."17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us in thy name.17 The seventy-two came back rejoicing. "Lord," they said, "even the devils submit to us when we use your name."17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name."17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 He said to them, "I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.18 Jesus said, "I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky.18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.18 He said to them, "I watched Satan fall like lightning from heaven.18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you.19 Behold, I have given you the power 'to tread upon serpents' and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.19 Yes, I have given you power to tread underfoot serpents and scorpions and the whole strength of the enemy; nothing shall ever hurt you.19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
