1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him.1 The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him,1 Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.1 The tax collectors and the sinners, meanwhile, were all seeking his company to hear what he had to say, 1 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
2 And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, "This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them." 2 but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."2 And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.2 and the Pharisees and the scribes complained. "This man," they said, "welcomes sinners and eats with them." 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
3 So he told them this parable:3 So to them he addressed this parable.3 And he spake unto them this parable, saying,3 So he spoke this parable to them: 3 Then Jesus told them this parable:3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4 "Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?4 "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?4 "What man among you with a hundred sheep, losing one, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the missing one till he found it? 4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices.5 And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.5 And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders5 And when he hath found [it,] he layeth [it] on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.'6 and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.6 and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbors? 'Rejoice with me,' he would say, 'I have found my sheep that was lost.' 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.'6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together [his] friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. 7 I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.7 I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.7 In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance. 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
8 "Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?8 "Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?8 Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?8 "Or again, what woman with ten drachmas would not, if she lost one, light a lamp and sweep out the house and search thoroughly till she found it? 8 "Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find [it?]
9 When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.'9 And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.'9 And when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.9 And then, when she had found it, call together her friends and neighbors? 'Rejoice with me,' she would say, 'I have found the drachma I lost.' 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.'9 And when she hath found [it,] she calleth [her] friends and [her] neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." 10 In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents."10 Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one repentant sinner." 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
11 Then Jesus said, "There was a man who had two sons.11 Then he said, "A man had two sons,11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:11 He also said, "A man had two sons. 11 Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons.11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.' So he divided his property between them.12 and the younger son said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of your estate that should come to me.' So the father divided the property between them.12 and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of thy substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.12 The younger said to his father, 'Father, let me have the share of the estate that would come to me.' 13 A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living.13 After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings and set off to a distant country where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation.13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.13 A few days later, the younger son got together everything he had and left for a distant country where he squandered his money on a life of debauchery. 13 "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 When he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need.14 When he had freely spent everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he found himself in dire need.14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.14 "When he had spent it all, that country experienced a severe famine, and now he began to feel the pinch, 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

17 But when he came to himself he said, 'How many of my father's hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger!17 Coming to his senses he thought, 'How many of my father's hired workers have more than enough food to eat, but here am I, dying from hunger.17 But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!17 Then he came to his senses and said, 'How many of my father's paid servants have more food than they want, and here am I dying of hunger! 17 "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you;18 I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:18 I will leave this place and go to my father and say: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands."'19 I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers."'19 I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.19 I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as one of your paid servants.' 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.'19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him.20 So he got up and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him.20 And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.20 So he left the place and went back to his father. 21 Then the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'21 His son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.'21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.21 Then his son said, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son.' 21 "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly, bring out a robe - the best one - and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.22 But his father ordered his servants, 'Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:22 But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! 28 Then he became angry and refused to go in. For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends.29 He said to his father in reply, 'Look, all these years I served you and not once did I disobey your orders; yet you never gave me even a young goat to feast on with my friends.29 But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:29 but he answered his father, 'Look, all these years I have slaved for you and never once disobeyed your orders, yet you never offered me so much as a kid for me to celebrate with my friends. 29 But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.29 And he answering said to [his] father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!'30 But when your son returns who swallowed up your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf.'30 but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.30 But, for this son of yours, when he comes back after swallowing up your property - he and his women - you kill the calf we had been fattening.' 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 Then the father said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 31 He said to him, 'My son, you are here with me always; everything I have is yours. 31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine. 31 "The father said, 'My son, you are with me always and all I have is yours. 31 "'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
